Subject: soybean stalks

nebraska
How much good are soybean stubble for cow pasture? I have a 40 acre field that was in corn last year. I fenced it off with electric wire and had the cows on it all winter. Worked great. Now the same field now has soybean stubble from a combine with a straw chopper. I was going to fence it off again this year, but winter has come early for me. Covered in snow for the time being. No doubt it will melt, but is it worth the effort to fence it off? I drove by a field this morning that was there for cows and none of them were on the field. All were gathered around the hay feeder. TIA
