Subject: Controlling Spiny Pigweed (Amaranth) in Pastures?

SW “Ohia”
Hey all!

Dad worked up a small pasture in late-August and seeded a fescue/wheat pasture mix. He never got around to spraying it, and the pasture is now chock full of spiny pigweed. To make matters worse, he decided to bushhog it a few weeks ago, and I think he may have spread it even worse than it was. Plants vary in size from <1" to 6" tall.

Ohio State recommends Crossbow for controlling them in pastures/paddocks, and it doesn't appear to have any restrictions for beef grazing. I have only used Crossbow to spray fenclines before, so using it on pasture use is a little new. This field has a history of spiny pigweed, but Dad has never done anything to control them. We would like to get this under control before winter.

Just curious what anyone else has done who may have been in a similar situation.
