Subject: New roof on old bank barn

I am intstalling a new metal roof on my bank barn that has cattle in the first floor and hay in the second floor. I was thinking it would be best to tear the shingles off and start fresh replacing any rotten boards and removing the extra weight but would it be a good idea to put down some kind of vapor barrier like tyvek or just nail boards as nailers on top of the shingles so that they could be my barrier. I am putting in roof vents and there will be 5 vents on the west side of the barn so is a moisture barrier even needed b/c I would have a floor of hay between the cows and roof, not to mention the boarded roof I am nailing to, just looking for advise, don't do this everyday and want to do it right, thanks
