Subject: Painting blandex board

NW Iowa. / SW Arizona
We built a add on garage to our house 19 years ago but made the mistake of putting blandex board on the whole interior. Not to put blame but my wife but she wanted this so that fly specks wouldn't show up. I wanted to sheet rock it but that's another story, she won out.

We're thinking of painting it white with an oil base paint to brighten it up. I'd like to spray it on but not sure if I want to do the taping around everything that we don't want painted white.

You guys out there that have painted your blandex board are you happy with it and would you do it again? I assume it's going to soak up that first coat like a sponge, was curious how bad it's going to flake off down the road and look crappy.

We also have that dark brown peg board over a large area of the upper half of the garage. How is that going to look painting that white?

I'm looking for any feedback good or bad about doing this. TIA, Mark
