Trying to get started on a re-model and opening up a ranch style house a little bit. How much room is needed between the back side of a breakfast bar/Island where people would sit and a wall? Is 3' enough, or do I need more? Available room for the kitchen is 11'6" x 19' 6" wide. I would like to replace the window to the left with a door and would narrow up the other one to fit over the sink. Trying to stay away from staircase as that is where we are taking out current walls to open it up to living room.

Also would like to turn the far two bedrooms/closets into a master bedroom with private bath and a walk in closet. Any ideas on how to lay it out and best utilize existing window openings?
