| Plumbing a open center/gear pump system that already has a flow control valve and relief valve. I'm adding an electronic flow control valve (Brand valve) and a 12 volt directional valve to act as a shut off. This goes to a manure pump and it's amazing how much will pump out with the pump just barely turning.
The question I have is regarding the directional valve - if I use a standard motor control valve the neutral position has the A and B ports tied to the T (tank) port and the P (pressure) port blocked off. That means while I have the pump shut off, all the flow runs through the relief valve and probably heats the fluid - just to be sure I don't want this valve in an open center system unless I need a cab heater. So, it sounds like I need to find a valve that ties all the ports (A B P T) together in neutral - am I thinking about this right? I'll still restrict flow a little going through the valve and make some heat, but much less than the relief by itself. This style valve doesn't seem to be called a motor valve, but perhaps it is. thanks | |
