NW IL, Mercer County | The last few days have been spent "replanting" beans. Our drill only planted about 100k on a couple fields so I planted 50k with the 30" planter. Corn plates work well! 50K was maxed out for the 30 cell disk and transmission settings. Now I need some 60 cell disks, or just tape off 1/2 of our 120 cell bean disks, to try some low population beans just for kicks.
I also looked at some beans planted on 5/10 and 5/11. One field has been 7+ years of corn and has some strips and some no-till, as well as test strips comparing MESZ vs. MAP. Its all part of a Pursuit of Maximum Yield trial with FS. We have had a couple inches of rain since planting so they crusted over some but are pushing through well.
