Subject: Spring vs. Fall applied "P" & "K"

N W Tennessee
Some of us were having a discussion over coffee about when was the best time to apply fertilizer( P & K ) for a spring crop. Will Potash move or leach over the winter ? We usally have a good bit of rainfall during the winter months. We also can have some warmer weather most years. We have a good bit of winter weeds that emerge in the fall and usually get some size. Can these tie up nutrients?

Most of the time DAP is the product used here. If spring applied , some Nitrogen units are gained.

When is the best time to make that application for corn ?

Thanks
