Subject: Windows tablet and Farm Works mobile for sampling??

ECIL
Anyone do this? What are your thoughts? Pros and cons? I am considering buying a decent tablet and put a good case on it and RAM mounting it in my Ranger. Have been running an Ipaq and Otterbox for the past 9 years but starting to have some issues with it and sync software is obsolete with new PCs. This seems to be a less expensive route than buying one of Trimble's field computers, but haven't found anyone else doing this so maybe I'm missing something??
The way I see it, a Windows 8 tablet with Verizon or AT&T air card and Wi Fi , case, and docking station along with a decent serial WAAS receiver would be 2500-3000 less than a similarly equipped Yuma. What am I missing??

Edit: I will be using this mainly for my soil sampling business and a little on the farm.
