Subject: How to set preload on idler bearings cat MT800

Southern Alberta
Had an idler bearing fail on my MT 855 and have put it back together, but am wondering how the preload is set on this idler. The shaft has a big circular disk attached with 3 bolts. The big circular disk is just slightly larger than the outer bearing and obviously holds the bearing in. The parts books does not show any shims or different thickness washers. I have attached the big circular plate and tightened the three bolts until they are tight and the big washer is tight against the shaft.

After running for an hour this hub is running warmer than the rest and I am wondering if somehow I have the bearing too tight.

Thanks
