Subject: Vertical tillage in CRP ground?

Southwest Iowa
Does anyone have any experience running a Salford or Great Plains across CRP ground coming out the first year. Just learned of 140 for rent this afternoon that just came out of CRP last fall. Idk if they killed it last fall or not, but I know they mowed it all for hay. I usually notill into sod the first year then tear it up in the fall but I'm thinking of running something across it to loosen the top up a little and maybe seal in some moisture so my seed trenches dont split open if we turn off hot and dry again. Any input welcome.
Thanks
