Subject: chloride on wheat

nc ks
I am putting some 0-0-60 on my wheat for the chloride for leaf health only. Don't need the K per soil test. Most around here put chloride on as liquid and wait as long as they can so the wheat is pretty big when they put it on. Are they getting any foliar benefit out of this for leaf health or does the chloride still have to go through the roots and in to the plant to have benefit?
