Athens, TX | One of my replacements has a terrible bag. One teat is fair, 2 have no milk at all and are hard / flat, and 1 has milk but is so flat a new calf would have a hard time getting anything out of it. I milked out the colostrum that I could and drenched the calf, supplemented with powdered colostrum, and am gonna try to graft her to one that lost a calf. Cow's dam has an ok udder. Any way to tell before picking them to breed that their bag will be bad? I usually just pick the replacements based on size and looks. | |
