Subject: Battle of the Bulge

68 years ago on December 16, 1944 the German Army launched their final offensive of WW2. It came to be known as the Battle of the Bulge. Four German Armies attacked an 80 mile front in the Ardennes. This area was defended by four American Divisions, the 99, 106, 28 and 4th US Infantry Divisions. the 99 and 106 had just arrived from the US and the 4th and 28 were understrength after being chewed up in the Huertgen Forest. In the early going the German Army made huge gains but they eventually ran out of steam. As always some atrocities were committed. Currently Germany and the US are close Allies. Funny how 68 years changes things. In today's paper I noted that both Germany and the US are each sending a Battery of Patriot missles to aid Turkey. Good., Jim J
