Subject: Charging problem on T-9040 New Holland

SE North Dakota
We have been having a charging issue on our New Holland tractor the last few days. The guage in the cab will fluctuate from 13.8 volts and then run down to 11.6 volts. When it was at the lower volts I checked at the alternator and it was putting out 14 volts but when I went back to the batteries they were at 11.8. We thought that we had a bad connection at the batteries so we took them out and cleaned the terminals. It seemed to help for a day or so but now seems to be acting up again. Is there a junction block that runs between the batteries and the alternator that could be acting up. Has anyone else had this problem before? Thanks
