Downtown Shell Knob MO Come Visit! | There were no corn stalks to bale this year but I have plenty of wheat straw, so I got excited and though I might try calcium hydroxcide treatment because Anhydrous is pricey enough and I was worried the moisture in my straw might be too low for good AA treatment.
My procedure was place two large square bales in a vertical tmr. and mix water and let them chew up and then add 5% calcium hydroxcide then let mix for an hour until the straw was bascially 1" particals. Then I placed on the ground and packed with a tractor and repeated this until I had done ten bales. Then I surfaced sprayed some propionic acid and coverd with plastic and sealed with tires.
(It was alot of work for the pile of stuff I had at the end, The process took all day but I was doing other chores the whole time the mixer was cutting)
The test is taken from a couple cores of the center of the pile after ten days.
My bales are now currently under plastic getting the good ol 2% AA treatment. |
