New Mexico
http://blogs.denverpost.com/captured/2012/06/27/colorado-wildfires-...

CO may finally take the lead from NM in burned houses so far.

ALL these fires been starting on "saved to death overgrown usa govt owned federal dirt."

Typical deal here where the large numbers of homes have so been burned:
the fire starts on Forest or Federal Wilderness, burns bout 35% there, then is HOT and moves out to Private Deeded and State owned land burning bout 35% private deeded, 35% State owned etc..

In New Mexico, on the Private land and State lands, most All is leased to grazers, some logging every year, etc..
The "under story" ( forest floor ) is cleaned up. ie grazed, low level winter burns ( especially on Native Lands ) etc..

Matter of fact that "keeping a clean under story" is local law in most areas.

The BLM and Forest Service don't do a dam thing ( have not now for 40 years ), no logging, no grazing, no nothing ( except put out fires later ).
It's total "paralysis by analysis."
Just an over grown trashed up mess waiting for a lite.
