Subject: Question about Shank type strip till or coulter type Jim @ Dawn

Would like anyone's input or ideas. We currently run a 6 row Orthman 1tripr with a 150 pto hp tractor on our corn acres. Every once in a while we use it on corn on corn acres but mainly into soybean stubble. On about 2/3rds of our fields we apply all of the N as NH3 in the fall or winter (around 200 lbs N) We are disappointed in the strip the 1tripr makes which is prone to erosion and is also a very flat berm. We would like to convert to a 12 row but it is hard to justify the tractor to pull it. I like the berm the gladiator makes, but it would also require us to upgrade tractors. My question is would the dawn pluribus be an answer for our setup? We usually try to shy away from applying all that N only 6 inches deep, but would like to know what your experience is with that situation? I am also interested in a montag cart to pull as well with the strip till rig to apply dry fert. How much N could we place with the pluribus that far ahead of planting? The erosion of the shank type strip till rigs is creating problems as well.
