Subject: John Deere 4940

SE Kansas
We broke out the new 4940 sprayer this week to start topdressing winter wheat. The dealer set up the auto steer which is GS3. The first field the auto steer had major issues. After setting an AB line the sprayer would track down line but it would weave about a foot side to side from the AB line. The old bubble was on our 4920 which was running GS2, we swapped bubbles with the 8335r and it helped the issue but did not solve the problem. We notified the dealer and they mentioned that the other 4 they had sold were having the same problems. They were out of ideas, John deere reps from the factory are still scratching their heads.

One more thing was the outside left 2 boom sections would not record while spraying at the start of a new pass. It would spray but not record it. If you went back over the unmapped areas it would spray as if it had been skipped.

Any ideas on these problems?
Kinda pisses a guy off to have a 300K machine that runs as if it is a prototype.
