Subject: Source of Bentonite

Central Nebraska

This past year the wife and I built a new home and in the process we also had a small pond dug out back.  Fortunatelly we don't have much invested in it as we had some extra fill to sell and exchanged it for machine hours.  The contractor (who I have faith in!) thought the pond would hold water based on the type of clay we have but it appears that it is not going to.  Using a drop off the end of the pivot it takes about 30 hours to fill the pond and every week I have to pump for about 7 hours to keep it full (I estimate that is about 300,000+ gallons/week).

The excavator is going to be back at our place this spring and the operator thinks he can spread bentonite along the sides and bottom of the pond with it as the pond will be mostly empty by then.  I'm only able to find 50 lb bags of the stuff locally and estimate I'm going to need a semi load (45,000 lbs).  Does anybody know where I can find it in 3,000 lb quantities.  I'm located in South Central Nebraska.
