Subject: nutsert or rivnut repair

Eastern Washington State

Well I am getting the Peterbilt ready for a new coat of paint and many of my fasteners (visor, clearance lights, mirror brackets, air cleaner brackets) that penetrate into the cab are breaking off in the rivnut (or nutsert....not sure of the proper terminology)or stripping the rivnut out. How do you repair this sort of thing?  Can they be drilled out and new ones installed?  Do they make them with different O.D.'s but the same threaded ID for when they strip out of the sheetmetal?

Thanks everyone.
