Subject: A seed corn rep stopped by today, what would you say to this?

south central IOWA
Had a seed corn rep stop by the farm today from a company that we have never used but is known to be competitive. Nice enough guy. Anyhow, he's talking about how we should expect the price/bag to go up but isn't sure yet of what it will be BUT if we would place an order now and pay by Aug. 15 we could save roughly 33%.

So my first question is, with the price of corn right now a guy could assume the price of seed will increase but by how much?

Second question. At 33% or roughly $100/bag, what kind of funny things is this guy doing? Do companies really give that much of a discount?

We don't normally get salesmen stopping by unless they're the "fly by night" type so didn't really know what to say to the guy besides stop back by in a month and let us think about it.

What are some opinions?
