Subject: Conventional till verse vertical till side by sides?

South-central Nebraska
Has anyone done or is anyone trying some side by sides? My no-till, especially coc is biting me in the arse this year. As a notill advocate the gloves are officially off and I'm looking hard at other options. In the back of my mind I remember a couple years ago when guys planted above their fertilized (NH3) strip till berms and burned their corn due to dry conditions. So my point is conditions vary, maybe notill would have worked better if I planted after the cold and wet early on, maybe strip till would have been perfect if one more rain had fallen at the time. I'm trying to think past one year experiences.
