Subject: Mounting 2-way radio antenna on tractor

Northeast Louisiana
Hey all,
Have been using CBs for radios. Have finally gotten 2-way system, low band VHF. The antennas we have are hard mount, ie, you have to drill a hole in the top. I know they need a ground plane, so how do you mount them to a tractor with a fiberglass cab top, specifically 7140's and a 2388? Used mirror mounts for the CB antennas, but don't think this will work with the 2-way antenna as they require a much larger hole and don't know if it will provide enough ground plane.
Just curious what others have done.
Keith
