SEON | We've been harvesting about 1100 - 1500 acres (250 owned) of organic hay for years and have seemingly every piece of hay baling equipment possible. But everything needs to be reseeded so my plan is to rotate out in ~ 250 acre chunks of wheat and then back into hay. Problem is we have no planters, no drills, no grain buggy, gravity boxes, no bins, no dryer, no combine, no sprayer, no fertilzer spreader....nuthin. We do have trucks (no wt line) but no hopper trailers. I did manage to pull the old cultivator, IH 730 plow and IH 480 disc out of the bushes after 30 years and it seems like they might get the job done.
Local custom rates are:
$29.00 acre for applying 1.5 L/ac of roundup weathermax + .5 L/ac of 24D.
$40/ac combine
$30/ac no till drill
$7/ac fertilizer spreader
I am not a big fan of renting stuff or custom work but you can't buy everything all at once. What would you buy first. | |
