Subject: Back Pack Leaf blowers CFM Versus air velocity?

Soutwest Ks.
I've had such a real fight getting my old IR compressor running that I'm considering spending money for a commercial grade leaf blower.  Stihl and Makita both make a unit that will shove 700+ CFM with 195-200+ air velocity.  What moves material, is it the CFM or air velocity?  If it is just air velocity my old Craftsman blower does 195+ but probably only 350-400 CFM.  It does a fair job, but anything that has had any rain on it, refuses to budge. Will a good unit like one of the above do the job, or what would you suggest? (blowing off combine)  New these units are in the $500+ range.  Thanks
