Subject: Outback S loosing gps/dgps

cropsey, il 61731
I recently bought an outback S and used to spray by itself and it was pretty decent - at least as easy to use as the ez guide plus. Now I've got it in a hagie sprayer and connected to an agleader insight. I bought an insight null modem cable and pulled pin 4 (power) even though the insight cable says gps only. It seemed to work fine. Then I tried a standard null modem cable and the insight display dimmed and the cable got hot and the outback shut off - not good. I got the cable unplugged and it seems like the insight works fine, but now the S won't stay locked on to satellites. It will for a short time then drop to nothing (almost resets) then doesn't acquire any satellites. Interestingly the S still seems to talk to the insight just fine

Fortunately an outback guy from farmer city is on his way with an S2, but I wonder what's up with the S - I would have thought the serial port connection would have been toasted.

thanks,

Pat
