Subject: 15" beans with a 30" planter - Rain Delay

Grabill, Indiana
We had intended to plant our soybeans in 30" rows this year, but the weather delay put our planting start date on May 27 rather than May 1. We decided to plant 15" rows by covering the field twice either parallel or in a diamond pattern.

We had a good start on planting but we got rained out when planting our last field. We have that one 40% planted with one pass with the planter set at 90,000, we had intended to "diamond plant". At this point the beans are sprouting nicely, but don't know whether we should attempt to plant the remaining 90,000 plants or not on that portion of the field.

Any thoughts from you all?

Jim
