Subject: House machinery--dry wall

Central Illinois
Currently starting drywall in our remodeled house. It's the old family farmstead and while a good house it isn't perfect. My question: How close of tolerances should we expect in corners and walls to ceilings?

I'm completely clueless about drywall but am concerned about gaps we're seeing in some areas. Is 1/4" to 3/8" at wall/ceiling joint acceptable? Seems like a lot but don't want to jump up and down if it's in the acceptable range. To clarify, the drywalling is being done by a professional drywaller.

Thanks
