Subject: 1940 Commodity prices

CBOT Corn .60 to .71 over the year.
CBOT Beans averaged .89.
Hogs averaged 8.70 x corn per hundred weight = 5.22 to $6.18.
Nebraska cattle $7.80 to 8.90.

Inflation scale to 2007 would make the 60 cent corn worth 8.90 and the 89 cent beans worth 13.21. An increase of about 14.83 times. So in 2007 prices hogs would have been worth $77.43 to 91.67, and cattle 115.70 to 132.02

We do seem to sell cheap these days.

Some of the data came from USDA web pages, some from other pages. Google found them.
