Subject: Been Kicking Around An Idea For 15" bean Planter

We have a JD 1750 6-30 planter that we are thinking about building a 5 row splitter bar to pull behind it, the tractor pulling it is a JD4020 Syncro range. The planter has a dry fert. setup. Is this setup okay for the tractor?  We have some slopes and hills, with mostly clay soil, will the tractor handle this?

The idea I was kicking around, would we be better off with a 12 row cyclo that we could "shrink" down to 15" row, granted that means moving the bulk fill in on both sides, or would you go an 8 row and get the extra units?  Granted we would need to service another machine, dealer support isn't a problem, but we would be able to do beans and corn without the hassle of changing meters and the hooking/unhooking, and if we needed to plant both crops in the same day.  We don't have alot of acres right now, and our crop rotation would be corn two years, then soy beans ever third year, and maybe it would be better for us to rent until we out grew it.

I realize we would possibly need a larger tractor.
