NE Nebraska
www.monsantoperformance.com pretty much tells the story on RR2Yield vs the RR1 beans so far in Michigan and Ohio. We are seeing the same results in Nebraska.

It usually takes a fuller season RR2Yield variety to win over the RR1's and their competition, or if RR2Yield does have an advantage, it is partially due to a lack of seed treatment on the RR1's.
Also remember that the Channel group and ASI companies selling RR2Yield beans this year, are selling most of the same varieties as Dekalb/Asgrow and each other.

Some of the best varieties in the industry will win in test plots only 60-75% of the time, but they are always in the top end of the plot. So we need to look at multiple replicated tests at the end of the year to determine what genetics and traits worked for this year. However it seems that the RR2Yield aren't living up to their expectations so far.

In the future if Monsanto decides to bring more defensive beans into the mix, they will more than likely give up some of the yield advantage that they were hoping to see. I think that they will probably still be behind the curve with the RR2Yield soybeans.

There are always exceptions to every rule, but I think Monsanto's own results speak for themself.

Beans in Nebraska are yielding around 47 to 62 bsh/arce on dryland. On better ground that has had manure applied in the past there are some dryland fields that are averaging 67-72+. Corn looks to be very good compared to our average Nebraska yields but where we typically plant 106-115 day corn, our 106 and 109 day hybrids are testing 34-38% moisture and not everything is completly black layered yet. We had a hard freeze and actually had snow yesterday. In the south there were areas that had between 10 and 17 inches of snow. Up North there was just a skiff of snow and it is gone now, but we have highs of 30 degrees F, and rain for the next week.

Going to be a long harvest here
