Subject: Moisture Testing Variances

Macon, IL
Pulled 5 ears from first field that will be ready-moisure was between 29% and 38%.

Using Cheapo $180 FarmEx moisuture tester. In the past it has been pretty accurate-once I calibrate it with elevator we have always been within 1% or so. New Batteries.

The 5 ears were all same hybrid, planted same day, within about a 30 ft circle so should be no big soil/wetness differences. Good even stand so not like 1 was a week behind other out of ground.

I have never seen this kind of variation within the same field before this year. Something to do with cool wet weather or do you think moisture tester is just out of whack?
