Subject: Grain leg Perpendicular or Parallel to Dump Conveyor

SW MI
Planning out placement of grain leg and tower for wet receiving. Will be opposite side of driveway from the current bins (side of future expansion). Thinking through it, and driving across a fair bit of the midwest I've been looking at others' setups. I've noticed a large majority of the grain legs are parallel to the dump conveyor, instead of perpendicular (example pictures from the internet attached).

2 Questions:
1) Any common theory as to why I've seen so many in the parallel configuration?
2) Will a leg have the same capacity if the crop is dumped on the downhill (scoop) side vs the uphill side?
