Subject: Buying broken/smooth bred cows

Has anyone here ever bought a group of old bred cows, probably in the third tri, calved them, and then sold both cows and calves when the calves are weaned? I’m thinking about doing this, looks like there’s money to be made on it. I also might throw a bull in with them over the summer to add a little more value. Even if half of those old cows get bred I think it’d be worth it.
I’m 26, have a wife and a daughter with another kid on the way, farm 250 acres and have a 65 head cow herd (the old cows would be miles away from the main herd in a separate lot to avoid passing disease around) that is 50/50 with my dad plus I do custom round baling and wrapping during the season. Just looking for more ways to make a little more money. If anyone has done this I’d appreciate any advice you might have.
