Subject: Did I wait too long to pull my tissue samples?

Bourbon,Indiana

Had planned to get my Samples pulled @ silking for corn & R1 for beans this year as in the past, but due to the slow growth, I got tied up in other engagements (family vacation being one of them), and now corn is well past, (R2-R3) and beans are (R3-R4). Is it still too late to get accurate samples to compare to previous years pulled at proper growth stages?

Plus we are 5"+ shy of water so the crops are thirsty which I know will skew the results.

Also, do you tend to follow predominate soil types in a field ( for a general sampling)? I don't want to test trouble spots but want to get a random "feel" of the crops. I'm still somewhat of a newbie at this.
