Subject: Windowing rye for baleage- wide or narrow?

SC Wisconsin
Going to mow my rye on Saturday. Ill be cutting it with a new Holland 499 mower (12' cut) and making it into baleage with a cutter baler. My question is do I want to lay it out wide and come back with the rake before baling it to get it back into windrows or do I just lay it in 4' wide windrows out the back of the mower so I can pick it up with the baler? Raking is an extra pass and I'm worried the windrows will be lumpy so a little more difficult to bale, but if I lay it out wide and rake before baling it will dry quicker and therefore get it put up sooner and preserve more sugars. Ive had people tell me of both ways so im gonna let you guys try to convince me one way or the other.
