Rain belt
What do you do to start nursery pigs?

The last 4 or 5 groups I've had in the nursery I've had a heck of a time getting them to take to dry feed. About 10 percent of them won't eat dry feed and navel suck like crazy so I have to separate them and gruel feed them.

The problem I have is nothing has changed in that time span so I don't know what I'm doing wrong or if it could possibly be genetics causing them to be hard starters... if that's even a thing. So I have a few questions about your nursery and practices.

What kind of feeders do you have?
How many pigs per pen?
What temperature do you keep it at for the first week?
How old are your pigs when weaned?
How many available spaces for a pig to eat at?
Is there anything special you do that you think helps?

Sorry for the long post and thanks for any replies.

Edit to add a pic of a pen.
