Subject: Cattle trucking dilemma

West Central Nebraska - Sandhills
We use the same guy a majority of time to truck our cattle, he is very good and has become a friend. We were taking in one pot load of heifers to a crop residue situation and the guy who’s it was cancelled the day before, the trucker had already driven 200 miles to where he was going to load the next morning when I called to cancel. The guy who runs the trucks said not to worry about it when I offered to compensate him something for running empty for 200mi. In all the years we have used this guy I don’t think I’ve ever caused him a bit of trouble otherwise. Do I let it go or do I insist on compensating him some how? What have other guys done in this situation? TIA
