Subject: Half gate for separating calves

West Central Nebraska - Sandhills
We sort off 2-3month old calves and cows in an alley a lot during AI time.. I got to thinking, and as we run our pairs down an alley and take a turn to get into the main alley where we sort, I realized I could put a couple half gates that may sort a majority of calves off themselves before we get to the main alley. I drew schematics on how/where we would put gates, but would like some advice on the size of the gates, both length (so I know how far into the alley the first gate can go and still let cows comfortably move by), and height of the opening on the bottom so the calves will go under but the 1000-1150 lb cows wont make it under. Thanks in advance for any advice! (I just knew we would find something we wanted to add to the new corrals..)
