Near-north Ontario, French River | So Ive just recently returned from my annual deer hunting trip. As usual a good time was had by all , and many topics were debated. As usual one of the weeks discussion turned into a mines bigger than yours debate.... gun that is LOL... Common calibers in the camp are 308, 270, 30-30 etc.. with a few slug guns tossed in just for kicks. Eventually the discussion , and I have no idea how lol, lead to a discussion of what calibers were suitable for grizzly bear. There were all sorts of suggestions from 338 to 7mm Mag, 8mm Mauser etc... I tossed out a 12ga slug gun just for shiz and giggles.. I know its far from the ideal grizzly gun but a couple of guys actually got bent out of shape and all but called me an idiot ... they could be right :-P so my question is.. while not ideal would a 12ga with a rifled barrel , shooting 3inch sabot slug take down a grizzly? at 100yds? 50yrds? 200 yrds? |
