SE ND | We feed beet tailings, corn, alfalfa and grass hay. Some corn stalks and straw. All forage is free choice right now and feeding tailings and corn with a Schuler wagon. There is a lot of waste with the rings and I think we could be cutting back on the tailings and corn. Sometimes havw issue with bloating, possibly from high quality alfalfa and wet tailings? How do you determine feeding rates on everything without sacrificing BCS? We try to keep out cattle smooth but some are just getting fat, would like to maintain without over feeding. Is there a program or do you use a consultant? Thanks!
