100 miles north of the NYC crapper | A month has gone by since the fire that ravaged through my family’s 248 year old dairy.
The outpouring of support has been indescribable with a go fund me-that over 1200 donors have contributed too and some half dozen other fundraisers that have taken place. I think when all of the efforts are tallied up it’ll total over $200k. The kindness and generosity of the community has been just unbelievable, heartwarming and humbling.
The tragedy has brought our family closer. After all of the heartache of the last decade. First losing his son to a snowmobile accident and our father two weeks later in 2009 and our mother’s passing this year then the fire
My brother seems he’ll bent on rebuilding. I think the outpouring of support is pressuring him somewhat but it’s not my call. It would be nice to see.
He plans on spending the winter touring other facilities to decide what he wants to do. Then do a small +-50 cow setup.
He still has 70 head that weren’t in the barn so the foundation of the herd is still very much there.
