SC Wisconsin | Dad has a 7 acre peice he runs, the lady who owns it doesn't like sprays to be used herbicide or pesticides because she has a lot of honey bee hives. She charges no rent so it usually works out ok, but this year the grass came in really hard in the wheat. Dad told me I could just have it rather than tear up the combine rotor belt trying to clip the wheat heads off and slugging grass into the combine so was planning on just making bedding out of it. With the cool weather and rain we have had the last 2 weeks I finally got it cut today, but the grass is really thick so I'm thinking about baling and wrapping it instead of trying to get it put up dry. It's so humid here right now I had to wait until after 1 PM for the dew to burn off to start cutting. Anyway, it smells really sweet, I know a lot of the grass has started to put on seed, but I would think the wheat would boost the protein nicely and make some good beef cow feed. What do you guys think? Would only make 30-40 bales I would think.
