central Ohio | A neighbor asked me if he could put one of his good black heifers in with my group of replacements. She was 8 months old when he delivered her. We're grass-based so input costs are low. He runs a good health program so I wasn't concerned. The arrangement was that I would treat her as one of my own. We never discussed what we'd do in the future with the proceeds when I sell her calf each year. I know we should have made this agreement from day 1 so I don't need lectured on that.
She has done just fine & has a nice bull calf. When I sell the calf along with mine, what percentage of the check should I give my neighbor? Is it the same percentage in future years?
