Subject: Dairy Calves on grass -close out

Central MN
I had 9 holstien steers, 1 holstien heifer, 2 Jersey steers, and 2 cross breed steers on grass this summer. All but the jerseys were bottle calves. All were feed a little grain to keep them bunk trained.

Jersey's came in at 162lbs avg in the beginning of May, shortly got vaccinated, implanted, cut, and dehorned. Sold today avg 490lbs, so they avg just over 2lbs/day. If I would have kept up on the implants and been a little older I think they would have done better.
The others I'm keeping till fats, maybe next year I'll have a scale to track them better.

All 14 did very well on free grass, plan to put up more fences and do it again next year. Just wanted to show it can be done.
