Subject: Who is filling the 1,200 head hog barns in NW Iowa?

In my job off the farm I do a lot of work with GIS mapping. Recently was looking at Northwest IA specifically in the far NW corner of the state. The trend that I saw were a lot 2014 and newer 1,200 head hog barns or I assume they are based on the dimensions. My questions are: Is this a newer trend to have this smaller size instead of the more common 2,400 head barns where I am? Is this due to regulations for siting purposes or are these the dimensions that the pig owners want? If so which integrator is liking these sized building? Any guys out there have any feedback on if they like the 1,200 more than the 2,400 buildings.

I am asking because I have posted multiple times on here about on looking at putting up a new barn and with the the hogs that we have and our integrator being considered a "smaller player" it might fit in well with our operation as we have more say in our building set up.

Thanks
