Subject: Odd growing season

Today while driving around in NW Iowa you could start to see sand areas turning. Good neighbor I trust always said when spencer area started turning the good ground has about 2 weeks. I do not know if it'll hang in that long given the forecast. We will be pollinating under stress. Been an odd year - seems as if our humidity levels are high but yet we can't keep water to the plant - tile lines still running, yet seeing leaf roll. Odd. Long ways to go given what I'm seeing and where we're at. I wonder if we forced stuff in too fast and haven't been wet enough to get root penetration past hardpan. Next chances of rain are 20-22nd. Thing is you go 50 miles in any direction and I can find guys begging for rain, and guys begging for it to shut off. Gonna be hard to peg these crop numbers. Gotta be careful of backyarditis.
