Subject: How do you get rid of bindweed in your yard without being hard on the grass?

I'm guessing I just need to be vicious to the bindweed for about 3 to 5 years and not worry about the grass but I was hoping there might be a good combination of timing and herbicide that could take care of the issue without too much damage to the grass?

I assume one should spray fairly often to keep it from going to seed and then also spray in the fall when it's taking nutrients into the roots? What herbicide mix should I go with if I were just going to ignore the grass and do whatever it took to be hard on the bindweed?

Anyone have any good tips? Thanks.
