Having just returned from a gun show in Maquoketa, IA I have the following advice.  Do not take along a person who has no interest in guns.

I hear comments such as how many of those do you need(said in a manner that indicated more than one was excessive).  Or why would you want that?  Or, you've got more guns now than you can use.  And my favorite, you have one like that, why do you need another one?

For a pleasant walk through a show leave such people at home, at a friends house or a shopping mall.

(not all these comments were from ladies as some of the ladies seemed to be looking at certain guns too)

I'll bet some of you have even more overheard comments or direct personal knowledge.
